Ocracoke is one of the most remote islands along North Carolina's Outer Banks, and their year-round population has always been tiny. Yet there were enough residents to form a congregation, and they in turn wrote this community cookbook. Vinegar candy, pecan rolls, Ocracoke clam chowder, Wahab Village Hotel clam chowder, Brunswick stew, Coast-style oyster stew, etc. The Creech family provided numerous recipes, as did prominent local widow Myrtle Doolittle. Near fine.
