A fascinating book detailing the plans for developing Fisherman's Wharf into a modern tourist destination. According to the authors, "About 1952, when sardines disappeared from the northern Pacific waters, Fisherman's Wharf changed from a commercial fishing port dominated by purse seiners to a lagoon berthing some two hundred boats of the crab and salmon fleets...From a casual sale of crab, fish and seafood cocktails, restaurants began to develop in the area in the 1930's...A trip to Fisherman's Wharf became a high point of a visit to San Francisco and a favorite objective for residents when dining out." Faint crease down center from folding, else about fine. Fascinating.
