Foreword by the brothers Orteig. Illus. by various contributing artists. Comb-bound pictorial stiff wrappers. First Edition. NY: The Bryan Publications, [1949].
A striking compilation of recipes by famed artists and writers of New York City, including Milton Avery, Kenneth Patchen, Moses Soyer, Peggy Bacon, Bernice Abbott, Edward Hopper, Stuart Davis, and many others. There's even a contribution from Eleanor Roosevelt, not well known for her stellar cooking, for huckleberry pudding. Drawings by artists featured in the book accompany several recipes, and each recipe has a printed signature or note from the contributor. Irregular browning to covers; offset to front free endpapers, otherwise, very good. Scarce.
